What does a bathroom remodel cost in Central Florida?

Bathroom remodels in Central Florida typically run $400–$650 per square foot for standard finishes, $650–$900 for premium (curbless shower + quartz + upgraded tile), and $900–$1,400+ for luxury primary baths. Most projects have a $22,000 fixed minimum. Permits are required when plumbing or walls move, and we pull every one. Plan on 4–6 weeks of on-site work once materials arrive.

What's included

A full bathroom remodel covers demolition of existing tile, fixtures, and vanity; any structural or layout changes required for new plumbing or wall locations; plumbing rough-in (typically PEX lines, new shut-off valves, and tempering valves); electrical rough-in (GFCI circuits, updated venting, new lighting); waterproof shower membrane system (Schluter Kerdi or equivalent, with manufacturer-backed 10-year warranty); tile and flooring; vanity, countertop, faucet, toilet, and shower fixture installation; mirror, lighting, and accessory install; final trim and paint. Permits and inspections are carried by us end to end.

Cost ranges by tier — 2026

Pricing tracks the same model our cost estimator uses. Per-sqft is calculated on the bathroom's finished floor area, so a 45 sqft hall bath and a 140 sqft primary ensuite at the same tier carry meaningfully different totals. Most projects have a $22,000 fixed minimum below which the line items just don't amortize.

TierPer sqftTypical inclusion
Standard$400–$650Stock vanity, quartz top, tub or shower with tile surround, mid-range fixtures, layout unchanged
Premium$650–$900Curbless shower with glass enclosure, upgraded tile, quartz or quartzite tops, upgraded fixtures, designer lighting
Luxury$900–$1,400+Double vanity, imported stone slabs, heated floor, freestanding tub, fully custom shower with body sprays, layout redesign, smart-mirror + lighting

Primary vs. secondary vs. powder room

The three bathroom categories remodel differently:

  • Primary (owner) ensuites. Where the design energy goes. Curbless shower with glass, double vanity with separate heights where possible, freestanding tub on luxury tier, heated tile floor in colder markets. Typical project range: $35,000–$90,000+.
  • Secondary and guest baths. Function first. Tub-shower combos stay common for resale value. Single vanity, quartz top, upgraded tile surround. Typical project range: $22,000–$40,000.
  • Powder rooms. No shower or tub, just a vanity and toilet. Designer wallpaper, statement pendant, vessel sink, honed stone top. Typical project range: $12,000–$25,000 (below our usual $22,000 minimum on standalone scope; we typically bundle powder rooms into larger remodels).

Aging-in-place: the details that matter later

Primary bathrooms are where aging-in-place detailing pays off most. Six items we design into every primary bath by default, unless a client specifically opts out:

  • Curbless shower. Linear drain, proper slope, glass enclosure with minimal threshold. Walkable now, wheelchair and walker accessible later.
  • Grab-bar blocking. Plywood blocking inside the stud cavity at shower walls and beside the toilet so grab bars can be added later without hunting for studs.
  • Comfort-height toilet. 17"–19" bowl height vs. the standard 15". Much easier to stand from.
  • 36-inch doorways. Pocket doors where layout permits; swing doors where not.
  • Anti-scald tempering valves. Thermostatic shower valves that prevent scalds from sudden hot-water surges.
  • Accessible lighting + controls. Rocker switches at 42", nightlight-integrated receptacles near the toilet.

None of these add meaningful cost during framing. Retrofitting them later routinely runs $8,000–$20,000 per bathroom.

Shower waterproofing done right

The single most common bathroom-remodel failure we get called to fix is shower waterproofing. Old cement-board + mastic installations fail at the corners within 10–15 years; tile reinstalled over a failed waterproof layer fails in 2–3. Every Elevation shower uses a membrane-based waterproofing system — typically Schluter Kerdi, Laticrete Hydro Ban, or Wedi panels — with membrane-wrapped inside and outside corners, a pre-sloped shower pan, and a drain appropriate to the layout. The membrane carries a manufacturer 10-year warranty; our installation carries an additional 1-year workmanship warranty. The membrane systems cost 8–12% more than legacy cement-board; the callback math is obvious.
